Supporting Military Heroes During the COVID-19 Pandemic

The COVID-19 virus has infected hundreds of thousands of our fellow Americans and claimed the lives of thousands. It has caused state-wide quarantines and historic losses in the financial markets. It has forced schools, businesses, and churches to close. And yet, there is hope.

In the midst of this crisis, the American spirit is strong and we will rise above this unprecedented challenge.

Currently there are 170,000 troops  stationed in numerous combat zones including, Iraq, Afghanistan, Africa, and Humanitarian and Contingency Operations throughout the world, our military has been called upon to serve in on the front lines in the battle against this invisible enemy including:

  • Mobilization of nearly 30,000 members of the National Guard to support State operations
  • Activation of the Naval Hospital Ships Comfort and Mercy
  • Members of the Air Force are providing essential logistical support to the supply chain and rapid movement of supplies

Additionally, America’s combat wounded veterans, and their families, are particularly susceptible to the negative effects of the “social distancing” policies which have been in effect since mid-March.

Freedom Alliance thanks our troops and their families for stepping up to this challenge. Freedom Alliance is committed to supporting our active duty troops and veterans.

Here is how we are helping:

Preventing Social Isolation

Americans  don’t like being stuck in their homes. Those who suffer with Post Traumatic Stress are particularly at risk. Being forced into isolation can lead some into a dark place where they lean on alcohol and drugs to cope with the added stress. Some may even consider self-harm. To combat this, Freedom Alliance immediately activated our “buddy check” project and members of our team have been personally connecting with veterans  who are at risk. [Learn More]

Since the first days of the pandemic, the Freedom Alliance team has been working closely with the 500 students who are currently receiving a scholarship. We have reached out to them to ensure that they are dealing with the crisis in a healthy manner and providing advice and counsel on how to succeed – including encouraging them to continue working towards their degrees and not to give up. We are also accepting both new and renewal applications for the 2020 – 2021 academic year. [Learn More]

How You can Help

Freedom Alliance relies on the generosity of the American people to carry out our mission.

Thanks to emergency legislation just signed into law by President Trump, any contribution you make to Freedom Alliance today (up to $300) is tax-deductible. That’s true for EVERY American taxpayer – even if you don’t itemize your taxes.

In these emergency times, President Trump wants to make it easier for any American taxpayer to make a charitable contribution to organizations like Freedom Alliance. He believes in the work that is being done by organizations like Freedom Alliance and has ensured that your contribution (up to $300) will be deductible.

For those who itemize their taxes: you can deduct cash contributions to organizations like Freedom Alliance up to 100 percent of your Adjusted Gross Income (AGI). Normally, the limitation was 60 percent of AGI, but the CARES Act changes that. Only cash contributions made through December 31, 2020 qualify. Donations to a private foundation or a Donor Advised Fund do not qualify. Contributions in excess of total AGI may be carried forward.

You can support our work by making a donation to support our efforts.
